What is therapy?
Therapy, also known as psychotherapy, is a form of treatment that aims to alleviate emotional distress. Therapy sessions are often structured, collaborative, and goal oriented. During therapy, mental health provider such as a Psychologist or Social worker provides a safe and non-judgmental space for people to explore their emotions and openly share their thoughts. Therapy is shown to be an effective tool for leading happier and healthier lives.

What kinds of problems can therapy help with?
Therapy can help people cope with a variety of life stressors including self-esteem issues, traumatic loss, relationship problems, marital conflict, stress management, bullying, sleep issues, medical illness, history of trauma, depression, anxiety, and more.

What kinds of therapies are there?
There are various types of therapies designed to address different mental health needs. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps individuals change negative thought patterns and behaviors, while Psychodynamic Therapy explores unconscious emotions and past experiences to understand current behaviors. Trauma-Focused Therapy supports healing from traumatic experiences. Family Therapy works to improve communication and resolve conflicts within families. Play Therapy, often used with children, allows them to express emotions through play.

Who is therapy for?
Therapy is for everyone! A common misconception is that therapy is only for people with serious mental health problems, however everyone can benefit from therapy! It can help people cope things from everyday life events and prevent future psychological crisis.​​

I am interested in therapy, how do I get started? ​​
The process begins with an initial 15 minute phone consultation. During this time, Dr. George will gather information regarding your main concerns and provide an overview of her treatment approach. This is an important first step in determining whether the practice is a good fit for you! Schedule your initial free consult today by emailing us.

Are mental health services covered by my medical insurance? ​​
While Dr. George does not accept insurance, she can provide documentation which clients can submit to their insurance company for potential reimbursement. It is recommended that clients check with their insurance provider to understand the benefits and coverage available for out-of-network services.

How long does the intake process take?
The intake process consists of 1-2 sessions focused on gaining ample background information about your psychological history, family history, developmental history, medical history, and treatment goals. During this process, we also determine if you are a good fit for the practice, ensuring that your needs align with the services offered. In the event that you are not a good fit, Dr. George will provide you with a list of outpatient referrals.

Are you offering in person or virtual therapy services? ​​
At this time we are only offering remote therapy services via secure and easy to access platforms. You will receive a link via email or text around the time of your appointment to join our virtual session.
