New Orleans Bucket List
New Orleans is rich with culture, cuisine, nightlife, and history. Whether you're traveling to NOLA for a bachelorette party, bachelor party, graduation, or vacation, this is your ultimate bucket list!
French Quarters
The French Quarters is often called the historic heart of NOLA. These streets are filled with beautiful architecture, lingering jazz music, and small town shops. You could spend hours walking these quarters and admiring the view - with a drink or two in hand thanks to the open container laws!
Commander's Palace
Commander's Palace is probably the best restaurant in all of New Orleans. Housed in the center of the Garden District, Commander's Palace offers a fine dining experience that features authentic New Orleans cuisine. This is the place to try something out of your comfort zone such as the Turtle Soup au Sherry or the Café Pierre Lacquered Texas Quail. My brother has always said, every single dish on their menu is amazing so you really can't go wrong! An inside tip - don't forget to order the Banana Foster for dessert, it's not on their menu but if you ask for it you'll certainly get a show as they prepare this buttery sweet caramelize dessert table side.
Carousel Bar
Located in the Hotel Monteleon, the Carousel Bar is famous for its revolving bar and vibrant jazz music. As the name suggests, the bar is actually a carousel that slowly moves around you while you enjoy their unique cocktails and tasty bites. It's the perfect spot to meet up with friends before you head to dinner.
Cafe DuMonde
If you're going to New Orleans for the first time, then visiting Cafe DuMonde is a must! New Orleans is known for their beignets which are a deep fried pastry served with powdered sugar and best complimented by a good cup of coffee.
Bourbon Street
There is no better place in the world to party than Bourbon Street. According to natives (aka my brother who has been living in Nola for three years for law school), the best bars to check out are Patty's O'Briens where you can sit inside and listen to a piano battle or in the outdoor courtyard and drink Nola's famous hurricane, the Boot which features a mechanical bull on the top floor, balcony access, and my favorite party game, corn hole, and the Beach which is the perfect club for dancing the night away.
Harrah's Casino
Harrah's Casino, just a short walk away from Burbon Street and right by the Mississippi River, features about 2,100 slot machines and over 90 table games. If you're lucky, you may just win!
Frenchmen Street
If you love Jazz music, the you need to check out Frenchmen Street! These blocks are home to some of the best Jazz music in the city. Most Jazz clubs only open at 8pm so get an early dinner and head over to any of the places on Frenchmen Street such as Blue Nile, Snug Harbor, or the Spotted Cat for the night.
