Valentine’s Day Gifts Ideas Based on Your Love Language

Photographer: Cassi Claire

I can’t stop thinking about Valentine’s Day! I really thought last week would be my first and only post about this holiday, but I just could not help myself. I usually don’t think twice about Valentine’s Day gifts since I’m the one who should be receiving them not buying them (since it's also my birthday), but this year I figured why not make it even more special to celebrate not just me, but Anup too! It is our first Valentine’s as husband and wife after all!

Finding the perfect gift requires really getting to know your partner, and their love language! If you haven’t taken the Love Language quiz, I highly recommend it! The five Love Languages are Words of Affirmation, Physical Touch, Gift Giving, Quality Time, and Acts of Service. Knowing your partner’s love language can help improve your relationship by giving them exactly what they need to feel loved by you. For instance, while my love language is acts of service, Anup’s is quality time together and so I know to designate time during the week to spend with Anup, just the two of us. Keep reading to find the perfect give for your special someone based on their love language!

Words of Affirmation

If your significant other’s love language is words of affirmation, then making this day meaningful for them must include a handwritten card and telling them you love them! If you struggle with expressing your feelings, I think it's so romantic to read your partner classic love poems!

Physical Touch

For those whose love language is physical touch, they may enjoy spending the day getting a deep tissue massage or facial! Something more tangible could be comfy pajamas (I’m a sucker for matching pajama sets from Amazon these days) or a weighted blanket to help them feel warm and held!

Gift Giving

Like I’ve said before, you can’t go wrong with a beautiful bouquet of flowers or delicious chocolates! If you’ve been with your significant other for a long time, it might be nice to splurge on jewelry to show them how much you care! My favorite places to shop for fine jewelry are Blue Nile, Bloomingdales, and Mejuri!

Quality Time

If your partner enjoys spending quality time with you then an experiential gift is the way to go — cooking classes, couples massage, Broadway tickets, sports games, movie tickets! I think the most important thing when spending time with someone whose love language is quality time is to be fully present. Acts of Service

My love language is acts of service — I looove when Anup helps wash dishes or makes my breakfast when I'm getting ready for work, or puts my towel and bathrobe in our towel warmer so I'm cozy right after a shower! These simple acts of service help me feel so loved and cared for! If you're like me and appreciate acts of service then you may enjoy your significant other cooking dinner for you, planning a date night, making you a cup of coffee, organizing/cleaning your home, making the bed, drawing a bubble bath, taking you out for dinner, or giving you a massage!
